About

Grief is the response to loss to which a close bond or affection was formed. Although conventionally focused on the emotional response to loss, it also has physical, cognitive, behavioural, social, cultural, spiritual and philosophical dimensions. There is no "right" way to grieve – every individual will have their own experience. Loss and grieving doesn't feel like a process when you're suffering it. The pain, often overwhelming, feels like it's with you forever. And to some extent, it is. Unresolved grief and lead to PTSD and suicidal thoughts or even actions. So grieving really is our friend. This course will help you understand your own loss and that of others. It will also provide you with an increased knowledge of how we grieve and how to help support our family, friends, colleagues, clients, and strangers we may come to meet. Lesson Plan: Understanding Pet Bereavement Level: Beginner to Intermediate Duration: Self Paced Objectives: • To raise awareness and understanding of the emotional impact of losing a pet • To practice expressing and empathising with feelings of grief and loss • To learn some coping strategies and resources for dealing with pet loss
